2005 KRA Series News-

Pre Enter KRA Series Races Online!

4/28/05 - The KRA Series will be running a different configuration for the May 8th club race. The track will be setup for practice in that configuration for practice Saturday May 7th. The track configuration is to be determined.

4/25/05 - 2005 KRA Points standings are available.

KRA will be utilizing the services of John Stults for the next two rounds of the KRA Series May 1st and 8th as or Tech Inspector. John is very knowledgeable and fair. John will be been doing all of SIRA's races in 2005 and has been SIRA's Tech Inspector for sometime. Please communicate with John on any Tech Issues you may have concerning your class. He is very open minded and impartial. Greg Wright will also help John Stults in a few classes addressing any tech issues.

4/15/05 - All class counts look good for 2005, as long as class participation stays where it is we don't anticipate any class changes this season.

3/17/05 - Kid Karts will be able to practice from 7:30am to 8am on raceday mornings, we will go into our regular class rotation for practice at 8am.

We will have open practice on Saturday mornings (when races aren't scheduled that day) for Kid Karts and Novice Juniors from 8am to 10am. Regular open practice will start at 10am.

3/7/05 - To help clear up any confusion, the KRA Series will have a TaG Masters class for all 14 KRA races in 2005. We will not have a meeting on April 9th.

2/11/05 - Anyone interested in participating in a TaG Masters class in the KRA Series, we would encourage you to sign up ASAP. In order to figure out scheduling and class combinations so we can keep our total run time efficient. Our goal is to be finished with raceday activities no later than 5 pm obviously weather will play into this at times but this is our target time.

Anyone that has not sent in their 2005 KRA membership forms we ask that you please do so ASAP. This will help us better organize, we also need your transponder number if you own one. April 10th will be here before you know it.

1/28/05 - Photos from the 2004 KRA Banquet can be seen on our gallery page. If you would like to have a photo from the banquet please contact David Lee Photography.

1/27/05 - The 2005 KRA Class Rules are now updated.

1/11/05 - The results from our survey for 2005 were decisive and we have made the following decisions based on what the racers want -

The Kid Kart class will remain as it was in 2004 with qualifying, racing and points awarded as well. We will also have post race tech and stringent engine rules available soon.

The 125cc ICC/Moto class will use the Bridgestone YHC tires by a margin of 3 to 1.

We will also be running the track clockwise four times in 2005, dates will be announced soon.

The 2005 TaG Endurance race dates will be announced sometime in the future. We are trying to put together sponsor support for the TaG Endurance races with a purse to hopefully cover the top 10 finishes. (200 Mile Endurances Race Dates are Now Posted)

12/2/04 - The F200 4 Cycle class will join the KRA Series in 2005. The 18hp OHV motors are very reliable (encompassing the Yamaha F200, Briggs Animal, Kohler CC6, Tecumseh 5.5 and Honda GX200) and represents the future of 4 Cycle racing. The class will be ran seperate from from the Briggs Senior class to allow crossover driver entries. The F200 class will most likely run with either Yamaha Masters or Yamaha SSX Heavy with a split start. This will eliminate any time being added to the schedule. The tentative rules are - Class Weight 365 lbs, Gas Only, Any Dunlop 5" or 6" Tire and RLV Muffler.

The F200 engine tech rules are available here

In 2005 the KRA Series will allow 50mm axles in the following classes only -

125cc Shifter Moto/ICC
Unlimited
TaG USA

This rule is the same as it was in 2004. Some organizations have decided to allow 50mm axles in all classes. To convert from 40mm to 50mm would cost between $400-$500 not to mention long hubs, short hubs, as well as various axles to tune with. KRA is commited to keep costs under control. It makes no sense to force the racers to spend money simply to go a few tenths faster only to keep pace with someone that can afford to go to the 50mm. Keeping cost contained is essential to growing the sport. The Europeans are currently using 50mm axles in all classes and this we believe will eventually be forced upon the USA. It is up to the US Karters and organizations to do what is best for karters here, not in France.

11/22/04 - The Unlimited class may still run by itself. We have received a few requests from TaG racers who want to race Unlimited as well as Spec TaG or TaG USA. If we can get support for this then we will keep Unlimited as a stand alone class.

11/19/04 - After getting some feedback on our 2005 announcement of a 14 race schedule for the KRA series we have decided to allow 2 drops for the season. Our tentative schedule for 2005 is now available, there might be some additions to this schedule such as SKUSA etc. We will update the schedule as organizations come on board. There will be a questionaire passed out at the banquet to gather ideas and thoughts on how to improve our series, we will also have a rules pamphlet printed in 2005 to help clear up any gray areas that might exist.

We are also changing the way points are totaled in 2005. Whatever position a driver finishes in the race that will also be their points finish for the day instead of moving KRA members up positions if non-members finished ahead of them. This will simplify points totals for 2005.

We intend on having two endurance races in 2005, they will be 200 lap races instead of 3 hours which should put the race around 3 1/2 hours. We are working hard on putting together sponsorship for the endurance races and also figuring out the best dates to hold the events.

There has also been some changes to the 2005 proposed class list below.

10/9/04 - This class list is tentative for the 2005 KRA Season based on requests from racers and from class turnouts in 2004. We plan on leaving the format alone in 2005 with 2 to 3 rounds of practice followed by qualifying by class and a feature that we may extend next season. A couple of the classes on the list will run together but scored seperate. (TaG USA/Unlimited) (All Briggs Classes if Entries are Low)
